Hello there!
I am Megan Joyce, and it’s great to meet you. I am a hard-working, hands-on graphic designer, problem solver, and difference maker. I love being part of a passionate and diligent team, dedicated to doing the best job possible.
So what are my credentials? Take a look at the facts. Well educated? You know it. Varied experience packed into my past 14+ years? Absolutely. Equipped with tons of skills? Without doubt.
Plus, there’s more to me that you’ll want to know:
Important people (my bosses, coworkers, professors, friends, my mom even!) will tell you my capabilities are juxtaposed, in a good way. I’m pretty good at marrying creative with practical and technical. What I create must wow, and work, so I tap both sides of the noggin to make it happen.
Context makes me better, so you’ll find that I’m curious. I read the copy, I ask questions, I learn the bigger picture. Understanding who my audience is, what their pains are, and how my company (or my client) helps them gives me a leg up, and makes my design more effective.
Resourcefulness comes up as well. Those who know me say I’m good at figuring out how to get something done. Google is my friend! So are people who don’t do what I do, who give me perspective. I am one willing to reach across the aisle for a solution.
Sound good? I hope so!
In my free time, you can find me riding my horse through the forests along the South River, making overly-ambitious costumes for DragonCon, snuggled up with my dogs playing video games, or trying my hand at cooking a new recipe.
I deliver design work that is not only good looking, but on-strategy and on-message. Said plainly, I'm picking up what you're putting down. Brand standards are my friend, and I love making beautiful work that’s right at home.
I've yet to meet a CMS I couldn't figure out forwards and backwards in record time. (Webflow, WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix come to mind.)
I like to think I've earned my black belt in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
What’s the next step down from a black belt…brown? I’m not sure, but that’s what I’ve got in AfterEffects!
I cut my illustration chops being “that girl who doodles on anything and everything” in school, and it’s only gotten better from there.
I’m weirdly good at identifying typefaces by sight…I’m that into typography. (I hope someone here is more impressed by that than my husband is.)
Working in a digital consultancy has given me amazing access to optimization resources with brains to pick about website UX and UI, and I’ve loved improving on that skill.
I am a fair hand at several video editing softwares, most notably Apple FinalCut Pro and Adobe Premiere.
I picked up HTML, CSS, and Javascript, because I won't be happy until I'm the definition of “Well-Rounded,” and because I didn’t want my developer friends to be frustrated with me.
I’m a pretty solid copywriter when the situation calls. You’re still reading, so I must be doing something right!
My background has given me the opportunity to have some 3D modeling experiences: I’ve got SketchUp pretty well in hand, and I’m working my way through FormZ and Blender.
Woodworking, blacksmithing, sewing, and an encyclopedic knowledge of adhesives? I’m your girl, and I've even been known to pick up a TIG welder. Does that come up often? Not as nearly as much as I'd like, but I'm ready when it does!
